Our breeding program
We have been undertaking genomic profiling of all our replacement females, and all our sale bulls and heifers since 2019 and all are registered with genomically enhanced EPDs with their polled and coat colour status confirmed.
Our stud cattle are run under the same conditions as our commercial herd which allows us to observe and ensure first hand the ability of our cattle to perform. We believe that managing our cattle this way prepares them for a wide range of environmental and management demands and ensures their longevity and adaptability.
The health of our stud is extremely important with all cattle routinely vaccinated with 7in1 and Pestigard, and tested negative for Pestivirus. All sale bulls are females are accredited under the Zoetis Immune Ready program.
We follow what we believe in: sound structure and great temperaments are fundamental as are the maternal qualities and carcase attributes of our herd and its progeny.
We annually AI all our replacement females and a large portion of our female herd utilising a range of elite international and in-herd genetics.
All sale bulls and females, in addition to all replacement heifers are IGS performance recorded (the world’s largest performance recording system) and undergo a fully accredited independent structural and temperament assessment.
Our stud principles
Breed balanced, fertile, robust, easy doing, structurally sound and commercially relevant Simmental cattle that are proven for longevity and performance.
Uphold the principles of integrity, honesty and transparency in our actions, and in our liaison with clients and other breeders.
Responsibly manage our land, soil and water with a focus on livestock health and efficient, sustainable, productive management.
Be pleased but not complacent, focused but with vision, educated but still willing to learn.
